Meet the researcher hosting a scientific conference by and for AI

Summary
Agents4Science, a new academic conference, will be the first of its kind when it launches in October, with research across all fields of science presented by AI agents using text-to-speech technology.
The conference has been established by Stanford University researcher James Zou, who is investigating how humans and AI can best collaborate.
Zou published an article in Nature last month showing how AI agents he trained can design novel therapies, leading him to seek out the best of what AI scientists can accomplish.
His concept of a Virtual Lab is a team of AI agents that mimic a university lab group, with the benefit of being able to operate continuously and work with a broad range of programs, including AlphaFold.
The conference will see AI agents reviewing and presenting all the research, with a team of human experts involved in the evaluation process, although the significance of this for the progress of AI remains to be seen.
