Summary
Malwarebytes has launched a free AI chatbot called Scam Guard, which works within its Malwarebytes Mobile Security app to alert users to potential scams.
The tool allows users to screenshot or paste suspicious text into the app and will analyse it to determine if it’s a scam and provide tips to stay safe.
It can detect phishing emails and other online scams and cross-references them against a large database of malware, scams and phishing data.
The best thing about it is that it is totally free to use and can be installed on Android or iOS devices.
Security editor at MakeUseOf, Kevin Arrows, tried the tool out on a number of different scams and was impressed with how quickly and accurately it identified them all.
He concludes that it’s a useful tool to install on friends’ and family’s phones to give them an instant way to check if something is a scam.
