Samsung has partnered with the UK Home Office to promote Android’s new security features to Galaxy owners, urging them to activate the features to help tackle phone theft.
Samsung has issued a public safety security message alert, which is expected to reach more than 40 million Samsung account holders in the UK this week.
The features include Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock, Remote Lock, and Identity Check, which requires biometric authentication in unfamiliar locations before allowing changes to sensitive security settings.
Security Delay is another feature, which is exclusive to Samsung phones, and puts a delay on changes taking effect if a thief tries to reset biometric authentication data, giving the owner an hour to remotely lock their phone.
Samsung hopes the features will help limit the damage of sensitive data being stolen as well as increase the chances of getting a phone back after theft.
