Summary
Apple has announced its intention to invest more than $500m in the US over the next four years as it expands its manufacturing and AI development in the country.
While Apple has predominantly used overseas manufacturers, the imposition of tariffs on electronic equipment has pushed the company to move its operations stateside.
The company plans to expand existing facilities in Texas, North Carolina, California, Oregon, Michigan, Nevada, Washington, Iowa and Arizona, as well as create a new plant, specialising in AI and server manufacturing, in Texas.
Apple has also promised to help educate students in the fields of silicon chip design, hardware engineering and AI, in a bid to generate talent for the newly-created jobs.
