Mozilla has introduced a new security feature on its Firefox for Android browser that ensures greater privacy for users.
Private tabs can now be locked behind either fingerprint or other biometric authentication, or a PIN.
This means that even if someone gains access to your device they will not be able to access your private browsing history or tabs.
To activate the new feature go to the tab group icon, open a private tab, tap the tab group icon again, and select the option to Lock Tabs.
You will then be prompted to authenticate with your biometrics, or you can opt to use a PIN if you prefer.
As an alternative, you can also lock all tabs in the Firefox browser so that access to the browser requires authentication via fingerprint, biometrics, or PIN.
This can be done using the AppLockthird-party app, or by using the privacy-focused Firefox Focus browser on Android.
