Use Instagram Map to Share Your Location with Friends
1 min read
Summary
Instagram is launching a new feature, Instagram Map, that allows users to opt into sharing their location with their followers and view the locations of those they follow.
To view the Instagram Map, tap the DM icon in the top right corner, and then tap See the map; users who want to share their location can do so through the Settings option in the DM tab.
Any location-tagged content from posts, Reels, notes, and stories will be viewable on the Map, and posts will disappear within 24 hours.
To change or hide specific locations, tap the Settings icon, select Hide places, and use the map to select the location to be hidden; up to three locations can be hidden.
To hide a location from specific users, tap the Settings icon, then the three dots, and then Hide from; users can also choose to invite others to share their location by swiping up on the map, accessing the Invite icon, and then requesting specific users.
The feature is currently only available in the US, with plans for global rollout in the future.
