Spotify offers a number of social features that allow users to share their listening experience with other people, such as creating playlists together, and blended playlists where two users can match their musical tastes to create a new playlist.
This can be done with the Blend feature, which is for one other person.
For listening together in a group, however, users can start a “Jam” session, where up to 32 people can listen to the same playlist, and add tracks as they see fit.
Jams are started by playing a song in the Spotify app, then pressing the device button in the now playing bar, then pressing Start Jam.
This will then bring up options to invite others to the Jam, via sharing a link, or QR code, or automatically inviting people nearby.
Anyone in the Jam can add songs, and the host can remove songs, but all users can control the play, pause, and skip of the tracks.
To end the Jam, the host can press the End Session button that appears when pressing the device button in the Now Playing bar.
Anyone can leave the session at any time, and the session will continue without them.
