Summary
Gradia is a lightweight and efficient Linux app for editing and annotating screenshots that is free and open source.
It is best suited for windowed application screenshots such as PNGs, allowing for the addition of customisable borders, padding and drop shadows, as well as annotation features such as arrows, highlighting and text.
It can be installed on Linux distros either by using Flatpak or Snap, and works by triggering your system’s screenshot functionality, which can be set up with a custom keyboard shortcut, and then styles and annotates the screenshot within Gradia.
As well as exporting to common image formats such as PNG, JPG and WebP, it allows you to copy the image to the clipboard for easy pasting into emails and documents.
Gradia keeps a record of both the original screenshot and the styled version for easy revision.
It is lightweight enough to not slow down older hardware, whilst offering a range of advanced styling and annotation features.
