Use Quick Assist for Remote Troubleshooting on Your Windows PC
2 min read
Summary
Quick Assist is a free tool that allows Microsoft engineers to temporarily take control of a user’s Windows device to fix any issues
To use the service both users need to open the app and authenticate using a security code, and as its banned on both parties it is a secure option to fix issues with your windows machine without the need to leave your device.
Acting as the receiver or assistant requires you to launch the app or press Ctrl+Win+Q, receiver enters the security code and presses “Get Help”, while the assistant needs to press “Help Someone” and enter their Microsoft password.
The next steps are to click allow or decline for screen sharing and the session can be ended by simply closing the application, while Microsoft technicians can use the feature to help users with fixes.
To get help from Microsoft technicians users can also search “Get Help” in the Windows 11 search bar, which will redirect them to the Microsoft chat support team.
This option does not require login passwords and can be a faster way to get remote help.
Microsoft chat support will ask for permission to access the device and allow screen sharing, they will then troubleshoot the device and fix any issues.
