How to Open Shared Files on Android Without A Microsoft Account
1 min read
Summary
Microsoft has introduced a new feature that allows users to open shared files on Android devices without having to log in to their account.
The update levels the playing field with Google Drive as it means Microsoft accounts are no longer required to access shared Office files on Android.
Any device using Android can now view and, if permissions allow, edit Microsoft Office files including Word, Excel and Powerpoint via a shared OneDrive or SharePoint link.
Version 16.0.18827.20066 or later of the Microsoft app is required and the file sharing feature can be accessed via the usual “Share” button.
Files can be sent to anyone including friends, colleagues and clients, and they will be able to access them anonymously with edit or comment access if the sender allows.
This new feature improves collaboration and enables quick and straightforward file sharing and accessing.
