Summary

  • In iOS 17, Apple introduced a feature known as Standby Mode which displays information such as the time, weather and upcoming calendar events on an iPhone’s locked screen when it’s charging.
  • Android doesn’t have an identical feature, though it does offer a range of alternatives.
  • The first is to use Android’s built-in Screen Saver feature, which can be enabled by going to Settings > Display & Touch > Screen Saver > Use Screen Saver.
  • The second is to use the Always On Display feature, which can be enabled by going to Settings > Display & Touch > Lock Screen > Always On Display > Always Show Time and Info.
  • Thirdly, there are a variety of third-party apps which can provide a similar function, such as StandBy Mode Pro, StandBy Mode Always On Display and Widget Screensaver.
  • These apps allow the user to select which information they would like to see on their lock screen and in some cases, when this screen should appear.
