How to Disable Gemini in Gmail and Other Google Workspace Apps

AI icon, Gemini has been integrated into Gmail and Google Workspace apps, and while some users enjoy using the feature, others are not fans and would like to be able to opt out.
It is currently only possible to disable, rather than completely uninstall the feature on Google Workspace apps.
Gmail users can disable Gemini on a desktop browser by going to settings, then Smart Features, and turning off the options for Smart Features in Google Workspace and Smart features in other Google products.
To disable Gemini in the Gmail app on Android or iOS, go to General Settings, turn off Smart Features, then Google Workspace smart features, and finally toggle off Smart Features in other Google products.
Be aware that while this will disable Gemini in Gmail and Google Workspace apps, it does not impact its functionality in other Google apps like YouTube and Google Photos.
Also, on Android devices, you will need to switch back to the default Google Assistant as Gemini powers the AI powering that feature.
