It’s getting harder to skirt RTO policies without employers noticing

Summary
A report produced by commercial real estate firm CBRE, reveals that the number of companies monitoring employees’ office attendance has risen from 45% to 69% over the past year.
seventy-three percent of companies surveyed said that employees are coming into the office as frequently as their employer wants.
The average number of days required in-office by companies surveyed was 3.2 days, but actual in-office attendance on average is 2.9 days.
The increasing enforcement of return-to-office (RTO) policies ensures adherence to corporate rules, but some companies are criticised for lacking trust in employees.
As many as 37% of companies say they are enforcing RTO policies more this year than in the past, and some firms are even using non-adherence to work from home policies as a way to punish employees, by withholding bonuses or promotions.
However, other employers are leveraging remote work culture, fuelled by the COVID-19 pandemic, to recruit and retain staff.
