OpenAI has announced GPT-5 which it claims is its best AI system to date, with the model available to users across all ChatGPT tiers, including free users.
This is the first time OpenAI has provided a simulated reasoning AI model to free users, which breaks down problems into multiple steps and is particularly effective at answering logical and analytical questions.
GPT-5 represents an attempt to unify all of OpenAI’s various AI capabilities into one single system.
There are four variants of GPT-5 - GPT-5 Pro, GPT-5 mini, GPT-5 nano, and the standard GPT-5.
Rollout of the models begins today, extending to ChatGPT’s 700 million active users per week, with usage limits dependent on the subscription tier.
Pro subscribers receive unlimited access to both GPT-5 and GPT-5 Pro, plus GPT-5 mini and GPT-5 nano.
