Some VMware perpetual license owners are unable to download security patches

Summary
Following its acquisition of VMware, Broadcom ended perpetual licence sales in December 2022, forcing users to opt for bundled subscriptions instead.
Some existing users have continued using VMware’s software without a support contract, relying on free access to security patches to ensure their virtual environments remain secure.
However, some users have complained that they are currently unable to download any patches from Broadcom’s support portal.
Although Broadcom has stressed that nothing has changed in its commitment to issuing security patches for legacy products, VMware has reportedly told some customers that they may have to wait 90 days for patch deliveries.
The situation has led to an appeal being filed with the European General Court against Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware.
