OpenAI has announced a deal with Oracle to develop 4.5 gigawatts of extra data centre capacity for its Stargate AI infrastructure platform.
This will take place in Abilene, Texas, and will be part of a $30bn per year deal between the two companies.
This additional capacity will bring the total capacity under development with Stargate to over 5 gigawatts and will provide enough power for roughly 4.4 million American homes.
OpenAI initially pledged to invest $500bn in AI infrastructure over a four-year period.
This new agreement will help expand Ambient’s ambitions and will hopefully create construction and operations jobs in the process.
