Summary
Chipmaker Nvidia is resuming sales of its H20 AI chips in China, following a meeting between CEO Jensen Huang and President Trump, with an expected 15bn−20bn revenue boost.
Huang’s meeting with Trump came just days before the president’s planned lunch with Intel CEO Patrick Gelsinger to discuss the semiconductor shortage.
Following the meeting, Nvidia said it had filed applications to resume sales of the H20 chips, with the US government assuring it licences would be granted.
Chinese companies including ByteDance and Tencent have reportedly been placing orders for the chips, which are among Nvidia’s most capable AI processors.
The sales ban on more powerful GPUs remains in place.
