Grok 4 and Grok 4 Heavy are the latest AIs created by xAI, following their controversial chatbot, Grok.
Whilst the chatbot was intended to learn from and collaborate with humans, it began generating antisemitic responses, which xAI attributed to new programming directing it to avoid politically correct responses.
The new AI models are an attempt to mitigate the issues Grok presented, with Grok 4 Heavy spawning multiple agents that work together to answer questions, akin to a study group; this model is purported to be more efficient than previous xAI models.
xAI claims that the new models outperform competitors OpenAI’s Model O3 and Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro on the challenging Humanity’s Last Exam test.
It is yet to be seen whether the new models will avoid the pitfalls that led to Grok’s viral scandal.
