Unless users take action, Android will let Gemini access third-party apps

Summary
Search engine giant Google has sent emails to Android users regarding changes to its AI chatbot, Gemini, which will enable it to interact with third-party apps even if users have previously configured their devices to block such interactions.
The company has advised users to block individual apps, however, it states that data will still be stored for up to 72 hours.
The email lacks guidance on how users can completely remove Gemini from their devices, with users who don’t want their previous settings overridden having to take action.
Google has come under fire recently over changes it made to the iOS version of its Chrome browser which deliberately blocked some third-party cookies, leading to an investigation by the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority.
The latest change gives Google greater scope to analyse interactions and provide user data to advertisers.
