Apple legend Jony Ive takes control of OpenAI’s design future

Former Apple design chief Jony Ive has announced a partnership with OpenAI, with his new firm LoveFrom taking over creative and design control of the company’s AI products, including ChatGPT.
When the deal is completed, OpenAI will acquire Ive’s company ‘io’ in an all-equity deal valued at $6.5bn.
io was founded last year with the aim of designing and developing AI-powered products, and its staff of about 55 will be incorporated into OpenAI as part of the deal.
Meanwhile, LoveFrom will continue to operate independently, with OpenAI becoming its customer, and will receive a stake in OpenAI.
The transaction is expected to be completed this summer, pending regulatory approval.
