Summary
In Google’s ongoing effort to conquer the wearable tech market, it has released its latest offering, the Pixel Watch 4, in 2025, with improved hardware and an increased focus on AI, led by its in-house wearable OS, Wear OS.
The watch’s display has been improved with a 10% increase in visible screen space, 15% thinner bezels and a 50% increase in maximum brightness to 3,000 nits.
Battery life has also been updated, with the smaller 41mm watch estimated to achieve 30 hours, and the larger 45mm version achieving 40 hours.
Google’s AI improvements include the replacement of Google Assistant with Gemini, which is capable of more complex queries, and a health coach utilising Gemini AI, which will adjust workout suggestions if the user has a poor night’s sleep, or has been injured.
Another first for the watch is Satellite SOS mode, which will allow wearers to contact emergency services via GPS even without a phone signal or subscription costs.
The watch also has a new side-mounted charger, which makes it easier to use as a desk or nightstand display, and means all types of strap can be used.
