Summary
Chinese storage manufacturer Biwin has created a tiny new SSD card measuring just 15mm x 17mm x 1.4mm, which it is marketing for use in laptops, tablets, phones, cameras and more.
Nicknamed the Mini SSD, the cards offer maximum sequential read speeds of 3,700MB/s and come in 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage variants, making them faster than SD Express cards and many M.2 drives, but slightly smaller than a MicroSD.
Two gaming portables from GPD and OneNetbook, which both feature the same AMD strix halo chip, have also announced a dedicated “card slot” for the Mini SSD.
Pricing and availability for the new SSDs are yet to be announced.
