Summary
Eyewear company Solos has partnered with accessibility-focused tech provider Envision to create smart glasses for people who are blind or have low vision.
The Ally Solos Glasses can read text and describe surroundings, recognise people and objects, and search the internet for information, which is fed to the user via open-ear speakers.
The smart glasses are based on Solos’ existing AirGo Vision glasses and feature Envision’s Ally AI assistant, which combines several foundation AI models including Meta’s Llama, Google’s Gemini, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
Users connect to the Ally app, which is available on iOS and Android, via Bluetooth to access the AI features, and the glasses have IP67 protection from dust and water, as well as USB-C chargeable ear stems for up to 16 hours of use.
The Ally Solos Glasses can be pre-ordered for 399,discountedfrom699, in two sizes and three colour options, with shipping due in October.
