Apple returns blood oxygen monitoring to the latest Apple Watches

Summary
Apple has announced that it is bringing back blood oxygen monitoring to its Apple Watch Series 9, 10, and Ultra 2 devices with a redesigned version of the feature.
The return comes in response to a recent ruling by US customs that allows Apple to import watches with this new redesign, despite an ongoing import ban imposed by the International Trade Commission.
The feature will function by sending blood oxygen data from the watch to the paired iPhone, which will store the information in its Health app.
This redesigned feature will only be available on Apple Watch devices purchased after 17 January 2024, when the ITC ban came into full effect.
Apple has been involved in a legal dispute with medical device maker Masimo, which alleged that Apple stole trade secrets and infringed upon its patents.
Apple has also filed suits against Masimo, claiming that the company’s smartwatch releases are Apple Watch clones.
