Summary
ESR has issued a recall on 33,000 units of its 6,000mAh and 10,000mAh HaloLock wireless power banks, following reports that the lithium-ion batteries can overheat and catch fire.
The power banks, which were priced at 32to40, were intended as a cheaper alternative to Apple’s MagSafe accessories, offering 7.5W wireless charging for iPhones, but other Qi2-compatible chargers offer at least twice the speed.
The company has received nine reports of the power banks catching fire, causing around $20,000 in property damage, but no injuries have been reported.
The units were sold at Amazon, Home Depot and ESR’s online stores between September 2023 and July 2025, with another 9,000 sold in Canada.
Models affected include 2G520, 2G505B and 2G512B, which were sold in dark blue, light blue, grey, white and black.
