Summary

  • Audio brand Soundcore, owned by Anker, has launched a wireless Bluetooth speaker called the Boom 3i, which is designed to withstand the rigours of outdoor use, including being dropped in water or exposed to dusty conditions.
  • The $139 speaker, which is available to buy in Canada, but not yet in the US, is both waterproof and able to float, with its speakers orientated to always face upwards, for use in water.
  • The device can be used to play an emergency alarm, or doubles as a megaphone when used with Soundcore’s mobile app and a phone as a microphone.
  • It also has a mode, known as Buzz Clean, that uses vibration to dislodge dust and sand that may have become stuck in the speaker grill.
