Summary
At this year’s Google I/O conference, it was announced that the tech giant has partnered with Xreal to produce a new “optical see-through XR” device named Project Aura.
Described as immersive smart glasses that embed two mini TVs in a chunky-looking frame, the device will be running on a Qualcomm chipset.
While sparse on specifics, the glasses will feature Gemini, cameras, microphones and buttons.
Xreal’s spokesperson, Ralph Jodice, has stated that more information will be released at the Augmented World Expo conference in June.
It is hoped that with the new device, Google’s attempt to dominate the AR market, which includes failed Glass smart glasses project and the new Project Iris, will be back on track.
