How to Create a Digital Photo Frame with Raspberry Pi and a Touchscreen
1 min read
Summary
A Raspberry Pi can be adapted to become a digital photo frame using a touchscreen interface, enabling it to display a slideshow of photos directly from a micro SD card, Wi-Fi connection or cloud storage.
The first steps require the purchase of a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, a 7-10 inch Raspberry Pi Touchscreen Display, a microSD card (of 32GB or more), a 5V 3A USB-C power supply and a Raspberry Pi case with a stand.
Following this, the Raspberry Pi OS needs to be downloaded and flashed onto the microSD card, and then inserted into the Pi, connected to the touchscreen and powered on.
Configure the touchscreen and install a photo frame software, before automating the slideshow to boot and placing the Raspberry Pi inside the case with the touchscreen attached.
Once powered, the digital photo frame should be ready to display personalised photos.
