Ex-NSA Chief Paul Nakasone Has a Warning for the Tech World

Summary
The Trump administration’s radical changes to US fiscal policy, foreign relations and global strategy have created a cloud of uncertainty over US cybersecurity priorities.
This was on show at two major cybersecurity conferences in Las Vegas: Black Hat and DEF CON.
The administration has been keen to remove officials seen as disloyal, while the White House has also revoked security clearances and scrapped academic appointments, making former security chiefs fearful for their futures.
Despite the uncertainty, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency chief information officer Robert Costello said: “We are not retreating, we’re advancing in a new direction.”
Former NSA and Cyber Command chief Paul Nakasone agreed, but also said the US government needed to do more to combat ransomware.
