Wyze tells us why its security cameras deserve your trust again

Summary
Wyze is introducing a security update called VerifiedView to safeguard users’ privacy after a series of embarrassing security breaches.
The company came under fire in 2023 and 2024 when users viewed footage from other customers’ cameras.
The new feature verifies user ID for every photo and video before they are played to prevent unauthorised access to footage.
Wyze has also bolstered its in-house security team and strengthened login security, including two-factor authentication and deploying tools to detect suspicious logins.
Dave Crosby, the firm’s CMO, said the company had realised it “cannot survive if we keep making these stupid mistakes” and was embarking on a programme to strengthen all aspects of its security.
VerifiedView is now available for some cameras and will be deployed for all soon.
The company would not comment on whether it was considering end-to-end encryption.
