In an attempt to produce ozone gas using a high voltage supply, Hyperspace Pirate generated too much from his X-ray machine project.
He decided to investigate the effectiveness of high voltage for ozone production compared to lower voltage, smaller gaps and larger surface areas.
Using a custom 150kV converter, he tested a large gap method versus a lower voltage dielectric barrier discharge method with an ammonia reaction to compare yields.
Although the high voltage was somewhat effective, the dielectric barrier method proved better and led to the production of ammonium nitrate.
This resulted in the creation of a viable ozone generator, but the Pirate noted extreme safety issues with high ozone levels, and asthma risks.
