German manufacturer Schwalbe has developed a new type of bike valve called Click, which aims to solve the common issue ofPresta valves frustrating both home and professional mechanics.
Click valves fit into Presta valve cores and work with existing Presta pumps, albeit with a locking ring that kills two parts of the current Presta valve’s three-part design, omitting the core-stopping nut.
Currently, Click is only being sold on Schwalbe’s own tires, though the company has made the tech freely available for use by other manufacturers.
Click valves can be identified on treads by their orange valve stems and locking rings.
Presta valves are largely used on road bikes and mountain bikes, whilst similar-looking Schrader valves are used on most other types of bicycles and motor vehicles.
