Printed Focus Control for Pro Style Cinematography
1 min read
Summary
A 3D-printable camera accessory has been designed to help cinematographers create a slick focus zoom effect.
The device uses a geared stepper motor, which is controlled through a set of printed parts that are attached to the standard 15mm tubing found on most camera rigs.
While it can be controlled via Arduino, the device also includes instructions on how to connect it to existing focus drivers.
The designers recommend using PETG or nylon for the gear wheels, but it will also work with PLA, albeit with a shorter lifespan.
There are already similar devices on the market, however, this is one of the cheapest options available at only the cost of the material.
