Maker Maximilien built a data rate monitor for the connection between two data centres and used several MD0657C2-R LED dot matrix displays to show the information in a pleasing format.
These displays are mounted in groups of four on small PCBs and are driven by a MAX6952, which is itself controlled by a Pi Pico microcontroller.
Several display panels are used, each being a painted and laser-etched acrylic sheet with a pair of LED boards mounted behind it.
These are then enclosed in a wooden housing and lit with LED ring lights.
Each display panel has its own Pico, which are daisy chained and driven via a Pico W for network connectivity.
