Add Wood Grain Texture to 3D Prints – With a Model of a Log
1 min read
Summary
In order to create a wood grain effect on 3D prints, a 3D model of a log with concentric tree rings can be used as a print modifier, modifying the object to be printed everywhere the two models intersect.
When printed with wood filament, the 3D printing material mixed with wood particles, the texture gives a more realistic wooden effect than might be achieved through laminated furnishitures with fake woodgrain.
Alternatively, textures can be added to 3D prints usingBlender to modify the model surface, thereby enhancing the look of a model and/or hiding layer lines.
A ready-to-go project with Bambu slicer software with the necessary settings already configured is available from [PandaN], making it easy to experiment with the wood grain effect by swapping the object to be printed with a new 3D model.
