Testing Brick Layers in OrcaSlicer With Staggered Perimeters
1 min read
Summary
Stefan of CNC Kitchen has released an update of his OrcaSlicer software which incorporates an automated ‘stagger perimeters’ function that is designed to improve the strength of FDM prints.
This involves the layers being offset from each other, forming a ‘brick’ pattern.
In testing, Stefan found that simply using the brick layers didn’t necessarily produce a stronger print straight away, and this required adjusting other parameters including flow rate to achieve the desired effect.
This is an ongoing area of development for FDM 3D printing, with ongoing discussions and controversy around patent claims on the technology.
