The Radio Shack TRS-80, a microcomputer released in 1977, is given a modern upgrade by creator [Michael Wessel] with the MIDI/80 add-on.
The MIDI/80 provides the now vintage TRS-80 with a soundcard and a MIDI interface, and is fitted with a BluePill STM32F103C8T6 microcontroller to translate incoming and outgoing MIDI signals.
The card is compatible with the TRS-80 Model I, III, and 4, and software for the system now includes a drum tracker and a synthesizer program with demo songs to show it off.
Wessel hopes this will spark a revival of interest in the machine and see it become a darling of the modern tracker and chiptune communities.
