While a fancy and functional rusty tub may not be everyone’s taste, it is hard to deny the impressive welding and metalworking skills on show in its construction.
With no CAD or computers employed in the design or creation, the entire ‘CastAway Tub’ project was completed using the builder’s intuition and a grinder.
The base of the tub is made using vintage LandCruiser leaf springs, which were notoriously difficult to weld, but were successfully tamed using oxy-LPG preheating to avoid thermal shock.
The whole thing sits on a steampunk sled base, which could outrun a dune buggy, and possibly bathe you while doing so.
