Summary

  • A group called Megalog has designed a nearly all 3D printed skateboard called the Skateboard MK2, save some nuts and bolts, as well as alternative tyres and bushings made out of flexible TPE filament.
  • The four piece deck is designed with a striking hexagonal pattern to ensure grip and features stylised two tone printing.
  • The board is relatively strong, however, where the pieces meet is the weakest point, prone to breaking at the layer lines under pressure.
  • The designers have also provided printable trucks with models that include flexible tyres and bushings made from the same material.
  • Conventional threaded rods and wheels can be used if preferred.
  • The skateboard is a cheap and fun mode of transport and whilst this design can be prone to breaking, it is a neat execution of a well thought out design.
