A YouTuber and GitHub contributor known as meub has created a DIY smart turret using a Raspberry Pi, a Nerf gun, hobby servos, 3D-printed components and a webcam, showing how easy it is to build something typically only seen in video games.
The project is open source, so users can duplicate the build and even improve on it.
Through a browser-based interface, the turret can be aimed and fired at targets remotely.
One limitation of the current build is its lack of real-time ballistic calibration, meaning users have to adjust manually for factors such as wind, target distance and bullet weight.
This is an area where the turret could be enhanced through further development.
