Former US President Donald Trump has announced he is moving the headquarters of the US Space Command from Colorado to Alabama, reversing the decision made by current President Joe Biden in 2023 to keep it in Colorado Springs.
Trump claimed that Colorado’s postal voting policy was a factor in the decision, and also cited the presence of NASA, SpaceX and Blue Origin in Alabama.
He also said the move would help develop a Golden Dome missile defence system.
Space Command was re-established by Trump in 2019 with a law to find a permanent headquarters, with the ultimate decision going to Biden.
Alabama and Colorado politicians have fought over the headquarters for four years.
