A new report has found that, in the first 100 days of his second term as president, Donald Trump’s administration altered 70% more federal websites than in the same period during his first term as president.
Sites have been purged of information about environmental racism, and pages on environmental justice have been entirely removed.
So far, the administration has: terminated content production teams; deleted webpages; attempted to take away the Environmental Protection Agency’s ability to regulate planet-heating pollution; and commissioned misleading reports on greenhouse gases.
This continues a pattern of behaviour that began during Trump’s first presidency, when the term “climate change” was removed from the White House website and the president publicly expressed his disbelief in the phenomenon of climate change.
Environmental groups are concerned that worse is to come.
