Apple cuts a deal for recycling rare earth magnets in the US

The deal will see MP and Apple partner to develop a rare earth magnet recycling site in California, which will help the tech giant utilise e-waste to build its products.
It also includes the expansion of a rare earth factory in Texas that will create magnets designed specifically for Apple products.
The partnership aims to help MP boost production and provide magnets for Apple devices from 2027.
The deal comes after MP Materials signed a deal with the Saudi Arabian Mining Company to counter China’s dominance in rare earth supplies, which was threatened by Trump’s tariffs.
