Robert F Kennedy Jr was appointed by Donald Trump to be the head of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in June 2023.
As secretary of HHS, Kennedy controls the agencies that authorize vaccinations, including the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Four months into Kennedy’s leadership, he has fired 17 experienced experts on a federal vaccine committee, replacing them with anti-vaxxers, industry shills, and others with no relevant expertise.
He has sole authority over the CDC’s vaccination schedule and has already moved the covid-19 vaccine for pregnant people and children from a strong recommendation to “shared clinical decision making,” making it much easier for physicians to avoid giving vaccinations.
He also mandated placebo-controlled clinical trials for all vaccines, which will add tens of millions of dollars in costs to manufacturers and could discourage them from making vaccines in the future.
Furthermore, he’s implemented gigantic funding cuts and waves of layoffs at federal, state, and local agencies, weakening public health initiatives and immunization programs.
