Silent Hill 2 remake developers Bloober Team are working with Konami on a remake of the first game.
There is no release date or details of changes as yet, with the game only confirmed to be in development, but RHPS suggests this has been in the works since August 2021, when the site asked Bloober about the prospects of such a remake, noting that their previous comments about their DNA matching that of Silent Hill 2 seemed to be “playing things safe”.
Given that Bloober’s Silent Hill 2 remake was received well, particularly in terms of its visual and audio updates, but was criticised for being “playing it safe” in terms of gameplay and story, Rock Paper Shotgun muses on whether this will be the approach taken with the first game, and whether this is even possible given the very different tone of the first game.
The author reminds readers that two other Silent Hill titles are in development in different styles by the way of alternative options.
