Summary
Gaming retailer GOG has announced plans to make it easier to play high-profile or must-have mods for certain games.
The company has launched GOG One-click Mods to offer “seamless mod integration” to its customers.
As part of this initiative, GOG will be hosting Skyblivion, a modding project which is aiming to release a remake of Oblivion in Skyrim’s engine this year.
Initial games to be included in the scheme are Fallout 4, Doom 3, Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines and Heroes of Might and Magic 3, with more to be added.
A spokesperson for the company said that the selection of the first set of mods was a combination of factors, including popularity, existing relationships and the cultural impact of each mod.
The new service has the potential to disrupt the dominance of Steam and Nexus Mods in the games modding market.
