Summary
A new turn and grid-based role-playing game (RPG) has been created by Ryan Jesuit, the former lead sandbox gameplay designer of Destiny.
Never’s End features character designs by Final Fantasy artist Masayoshi Nishimura and focuses on a world where the protagonist – a warrior spirit – must burn souls to turn villagers into battlefield units.
Players can use spells to modify the terrain and atmospheric conditions, such as weather and flooding, to gain an advantage in combat.
The game features a campaign where players can choose when to assault the heart of an entity that pumps out enemies, as well as an open-ended world to explore.
It also includes a village-building element, with rebuilt civilisations providing rewards for players.
However, the player’s character morphs into a pool of liquid silver when defeated in battle, suggesting the potential villainous role of the player.
