Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero developer Unknown Worlds has said that the map size for upcoming game Subnautica 2 will be larger than previous entries in the series.
In a recent Q&A video, the studio also stated that it was returning to the storytelling style of the first game, including a silent protagonist.
This implies that the discoveries and experiences of the player will be the main drivers of the story.
One point of concern for fans of the original was that the map for Subnautica: Below Zero was perceived to be smaller than the first game.
Unknown Worlds also stated that whilst some elements would remain the same as the previous games in the series, players should expect new vehicles and character customisation options more suited to the new environment.
Currently the studio is aiming for Subnautica 2 to be the biggest game in the series once it reaches version 1.0 in a few years.
