The union of QA workers at Microsoft/ZeniMax Media has come to a tentative agreement with Microsoft which includes improved wages and contracts, as well as protections from arbitrary dismissal and acknowledgement of QA workers’ contributions.
The agreement is yet to be ratified and will be put to a vote by members by June 20, 2023.
If accepted, the agreement will set a precedent for game workers at Microsoft-owned studios.
It follows the recent unionisation of Overwatch developers.
If this agreement is reached, it will be a positive result for Microsoft, reversing the current trend of tech company unionting campaigns, such as Google’s firing of AI researchers and Kickstarter shutting out union organisers.
