Modders race to revive long-dead Borderlands MMO ahead of Borderlands 4's release

The MMO version of Borderlands, titled Borderlands Online, was released in China in 2014 but shut down just a year later.
Recently a modder EpicNNG has been attempting to resurrect the game, revealing a video of their progress so far this week.
They confessed that the build they are working on is riddled with errors and riddled with viruses, and that they are worried that the developers will attempt to block their efforts prior to the release of Borderlands 4 on September 12.
This follows a recent Rock Paper Shotgun article that cited a survey suggesting that 70% of online games are doomed to disappear.
